Finding that work inadequately invigorating on its own, Justin followed in his mother's footsteps and joined the U.S. Peace Corps and moved to a small village in northern Peru, where he lived for two years working as a community health educator. Raised by a family medicine doctor and a biochemist in Memphis, Tennessee, Dr. Nelson grew up loving the performing arts and spent time in ballet, choirs, orchestras, and theater productions. She is excited about the four year curriculum that will help her further explore her interests and make her a better advocate and physician for her patients. In her time away from work, Dr. Pavlat enjoys spending time outside backpacking, paddle boarding, and roaming farmers markets. When he is stuck indoors, he enjoys reading (mostly fiction, although he's trying to branch out), and cooking interesting new meals (with a wide variation in success).
